Bible Experience Reaches Involvement Milestone

Sanchez, M2
PHOENIX, AZ (June 24, 2016) – More than 1,000 of the uniquely arranged Bibles to be used as part of the Covenant Community Bible Experience (CBE) have been ordered, surpassing a milestone mark, Michelle Sanchez, executive minister of Make and Deepen Disciples, told delegates to the 131st Annual Meeting.

The Bible has no chapters or verse numbers, cross-references, or red letters, but is designed to be read as it would have been in its original context. Sanchez said the orders represent at least 23 churches, one camp, and one regional conference office that are participating or considering taking part in the project, Sanchez said.

The ultimate dream is that over the next year, the entire Covenant would read the entire New Testament together, Sanchez said. CBE is slated to launch this fall.

The program has deepened relationships and increased the desire to read the Scriptures, report congregations that have piloted the project, Sanchez said. She added that the Covenant’s executive leadership team journeyed through the Book of Acts during a recent retreat.

More about CBE can be found online.
