Magazine Names SCH Nursing Facility Among Nation’s Best

CHICAGO, IL (December 14, 2016) — U.S. News & World Report recently named Swedish Covenant Hospital’s Extended Care Facility on its list of Best Nursing Homes.us-news-photo
The magazine’s 2016-17 ranking was based on tougher requirements than in years past, which resulted in 41 percent fewer facilities making the list. Of the 740 facilities evaluated in Illinois, only 63 made the ranking.

According to the report: “Swedish Covenant Hospital’s Extended Care Facility (ECF) in Chicago, IL, is rated 5.0 stars overall (out of 5 stars). It is a small facility with 46 beds and has nonprofit, church ownership. Swedish Covenant Hospital is not part of a continuing care retirement community. It participates in Medicare.”
The ECF functions as a short-stay facility, with a shorter average length of stay than a traditional nursing home. The overall five-star ranking for the hospital’s facility is based on ratings in several key areas, including health inspections, nurse staffing, and measures of medical quality of care.
