America’s Got Talent Judges Awed by Performance of NPU Grad

CHICAGO, IL (June 10, 2015) — Sharon Irving, a North Park University graduate who has wowed thousands of people at CHIC youth conferences and helped lead worship at her alma mater as well as other Covenant national events, inspired the judges of America’s Got Talent in last night’s episode.

Irving performed “Take Me to Church,” and after just a few seconds, the camera showed the judges expressing awe at her rendition. They gave her a standing ovation, and then Mel B punched “the Golden Button,” which meant Irving doesn’t have to go through any more of the preliminary rounds. The judge said she had never pressed the button before.

Irving helped lead worship at the 2009 and 2012 CHIC events and is slated to participate in basecamp experiences at this year’s event. In addition to participating at Covenant events, Irving wrote and recorded a spoken word piece for a Covenant World Relief video.
