Funeral Services Conducted for Margaret Lindholm

ROSEAU, MN (October 15, 2011) – Covenant News Service has learned of the death of Margaret (Gustafson) Lindholm, 98, widow of two Evangelical Covenant Church pastors, C. Gustav Anderson and Leonard Lindholm. She died September 18.

Lindholm was born October 1, 1912, in River, Minnesota, to Gustav and Hannah Gustafson. After graduating from Bemidji Teachers College, she taught in two rural schools.

She married Anderson on May 24, 1937. They worked together to start an Indian mission in Warroad, Minnesota, which led to the beginning of the Covenant church there.

Following her husband’s death in 1961, Lindholm worked for two families as a babysitter/housekeeper while resuming classes at Bemidji State to complete her bachelor’s degree in education. She subsequently taught school in three schools prior to retiring in 1978.

On December 29, 1964, she married Leonard Lindholm, pastor of the Warroad church. He preceded her in death in 1993.

She was a member of Bethel Covenant Church in Roseau, a church that was started in her parents’ home. She was the pianist for many years and active in the women’s group and other church activities.

Lindholm was preceded in death by an infant son and her son, Eldon; step-children, Verner, Paul, and Edith Anderson; step-granddaughter, Sanna Baker; and two siblings, Harold and Ruth Gustafson. She is survived by four children: Carl Anderson, David Anderson, Esther Welin, and Evert Anderson; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Services were held September 24 at Roseau Evangelical Covenant Church.
