Registration Open for Sankofa and Mini-J2M Trips

CHICAGO, IL (January 5, 2011) – Space still is available on upcoming Mini-Journey to Mosaic Chicago and Sankofa trips scheduled to begin at the conclusion of the Midwinter Conference.

The Mini-J2M is slated for February 4-6. It is an experiential, multiethnic immersion bus trip for students and adults that offers participants the opportunity to discuss issues related to race and faith. The trip will include stops at museums and churches, worship services together, and guest speakers.

The Compassion Mercy and Justice Commission of the Central Conference is sponsoring the trip.

Space also available for the Sankofa journey, which will run February 4-7. “Sankofa” is a West African word meaning “looking backward to move forward.” During the four-day bus trip, participants are paired with someone of another race and travel to historic sites of importance to the civil rights movement
