BOSTON, MA (September 1, 2010) – Members of Cornerstone Church of Boston know the $40,000 a year in rent they are paying for their new meeting space will go to a good cause.

The Ben Franklin Institute, a two-year technical college, will use all of the funds to help provide additional financial aid to needy students, says Eugee Lee, pastor of Cornerstone, a six-year-old Evangelical Covenant Church. Many of the school’s students come from overseas. Flags representing the home nations of the students line the back wall of the auditorium where the church is holding its services.

The church has an average attendance of 150 during the summer but that swells to between 350 and 400 when students return to school, Lee says.

The new setting will enable the entire congregation to worship together, which they had not been able to do. The church had been forced to meet in two locations several blocks apart because neither space was large enough. “We saw ourselves as a multi-site campus,” Lee says.

The church had been praying for about a year for new space. As a result of the new lease, the prayers of even more people will be answered.
