Delegates Approve Resolution on Criminal Justice

ST. PAUL, MN (June 26, 2010) – Delegates to the 125th Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church today approved a Resolution on Criminal Justice with only one delegate voting against the document.

Delegates filled the half-hour set aside for discussion largely by sharing how their churches were responding to the issue.

The Commission on Christian Action drafted the resolution and first presented it to the 2009 Annual Meeting. Covenant churches and individuals then spent the next year discussing the resolution and providing responses. The resolution approved today incorporated many of those responses.

In other business:

  • Five retiring members of the Covenant Executive Board were recognized for their service. The retiring members are Joel Davidsen, D. Darrell Griffin, Jane Matheson, Rebecca Slomiany, and Dan Wickman. Click here for video coverage.
  • Near the end of the concluding Saturday business session, delegates were given a summary containing key actions and other information from the two days of business to aid them in preparing reports to their respective churches.
