ST. PAUL, MN (June 4, 2010) – Those attending the 125th Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church will have an opportunity to participate in an Offering of Letters to express support for a call to end world hunger.
The letters, part of an ongoing Bread for the World (BFTW) campaign, will be sent to U.S. legislative leaders to urge their support for anti-hunger policies. Many Covenant churches have held offering events in past years.
“Writing letters is a simple way for Christians to live out their call to care for the ‘least of these,’ ” says Debbie Blue, executive minister of the Department of Compassion, Mercy, and Justice. The accompanying photo shows one individual completing a letter during an earlier event.
The Offering of Letters site at the meeting also will offer an interactive experience to help people deepen their understanding of hunger issues.
BFTW is a longtime partner with the Covenant in working to end hunger.
