News Briefs: Covenanters Making Headlines

CHICAGO, IL (January 25, 2010) – Leadership Journal has named two books written by Covenanters as among the 10 best of 2009.

The widely read journal honored The Monkey and the Fish by Dave Gibbons, pastor of Newsong Covenant Church, and The Next Evangelicalism by Soong-Chan Rah, North Park Theological Seminary professor, for their contributions to “The Leader’s Outer Life.”

A diverse group of more than 100 pastors and leaders, including Leadership Journal’s contributing editors, chose the winners in two categories: The Leader’s Outer Life, and The Leader’s Inner Life.

Judge David Anderson praised The Monkey and the Fish, saying, “Blended cultures are increasingly relevant for bridge-building. This book’s creative storytelling gives useful insight for life and ministry.”

In her recommendation of The Next Evangelicalism, judge Katherine Callahan-Howell writes, “Scholarship gives this book a depth beyond many similar tomes that are based mostly on experience. Rah leaves us with real hope.”
