Director of Church Planting Sought

CHICAGO, IL (June 27, 2016) – The Evangelical Covenant Church is now accepting applications for the full-time director of church planting position.

cp-logoThe position works closely with regional conferences to identify, shape, and sharpen church planting strategies and efforts throughout the denomination to initiate sustainable healthy missional congregations.

It is a new position. “In posting this position, we are mindful and thankful for John Teter,” said Dick Lucco, interim executive minister for the Start and Strengthen mission priority. “For the last three years, John has served as the part-time team leader of church planting while pastoring his own congregation. As an embedded practitioner, he is to be commended for moving church planting forward. As we transition to a full time director of church planting, we look forward to discerning the people who Jesus may be raising up to serve in this role.”

The position is located within the Start and Strengthen (SSC) mission priority of the ECC, and reports to the Executive Minister for SSC. The position additionally collaborates with other ECC mission priorities to ensure the comprehensive development of congregations.

The other ECC mission priorities are Make and Deepen Disciples; Love Mercy Do Justice, Develop Leaders, and Serve Globally.

The application deadline is July 11, 2016. The position requires relocating to Chicago and membership in an ECC church.
