Obituary: Virginia Johnson

BOSTON, MA (March 17, 2014) — Virginia “Ginny” (Lagh) Johnson, wife of retired Covenant pastor Alden Johnson, died Wednesday.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Belfast, Maine.

Ginny was born in Boston on November 30, 1942, the daughter of the late Arvid and Ruth (Nelson) Lagh. She attended North Park College in Chicago and Chandler School for Women in Boston.

She married Alden Johnson on April 30, 1988. He survives.

Ginny was employed in various positions in the several states in which she lived. She retired as a project manager in the graphic arts department for the New England Journal of Medicine, having worked there for almost 18 years.

She volunteered with many organizations including Meals on Wheels, the Maine Farmland Trust, the Coastal Land Trust, and the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Peter Lindgren; a daughter, Kerstin Lindgren; two stepdaughters Rochelle Johnson and Rebecca Contreras; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be designated to Saint Margaret’s Episcopal Church, the Stem Transplant and Discovery Fund at Massachusetts General Hospital, or Cape Cod Covenant Church in Brewster, Massachusetts.
