YAOUNDE, CAMEROON (February 28, 2013) – Five leaders from the Congo Covenant Church (CEUM) participated in a two-week Leadership Matters course and will take back to Congo the information they received to share with more than 1,000 pastors in the denomination.
The course focuses on developing basic leadership skills for Christian workers and covers areas of communication, management, relationships, motivation, devotions, strategic planning for their vocation, training, public relations and leadership.
Janet Ziegelbaur, Evangelical Covenant Church missionary to Cameroon, said CEUM President Mboka decided to send the five participants even though the denomination had only enough funding for three, because he “understands the importance of this training.”
The five leaders who participated were Rev. Jacque Vungbo, vice president; Rev. Corine Kikwiti, women’s ministry; Rev. Mbewa Dagbabu; Rev. Jean Vieux Sabuli, Christian education, and Dr. Richard Lingili, director of the CEUM medical system.
In the worship service that concluded the training, the CEUM representatives provided worship music in Lingala.
The training took place at the Wycliffe Training Center and attracted about 30 people from Central African Republic, Gabon, Cameroon, Chad and Ivory Coast. It was only the second time the course has been offered in French in Cameroon. There have been about a dozen in English.
Participants were grouped into teams for accountability as they returned to the churches and ministries to implement what was learned. The five CEUM members have made themselves accountable to each other.
Janet and Ron Ziegelbaur and Paul and Sheryl Noren assisted in receiving the participants in Yaoundé. Missionary Pete Ekstrand helped arrange the trip.

This really excites me. Praying that they will really be able to put it to work in all the areas they represent. God bless them all.
