Halverson Honored for Years of Service

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (February 27, 2013) – A recent award presented to Cynthia Halverson, the Evangelical Covenant Church’s executive director for advancement, honors her three decades of faithful work in fund development for Christian ministry.

“The work is all about giving people the opportunity to help support God’s mission in the world through generosity,” says Halverson, who began her work with the Covenant two years ago. “There’s nothing like helping people connect with ministry and experience the joy that comes from giving.”

The Association of Lutheran Development Executives honored Halverson, a prior executive of the Christian philanthropy organization, with the Virgil Anderson Award during its annual meeting in Indianapolis earlier this month. It is presented to a member or past member “who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and service in the development field.”

Prior to joining the Covenant Offices staff, her previous experience included serving as executive director of the ELCA Foundation and Development Services. Click here to read a previous story containing additional background information.

Halverson expressed her gratitude for the award and the organization of which she had been a member for 30 years. “As a young professional, the group was extremely significant to me in my professional development. I found gifted colleagues in similar ministry who were eager to support me in my journey and always available to share their experience and wisdom, and give good counsel along the way.”
