Links: What Covenanters Are Talking About Online

By Stan Friedman

CHICAGO, IL (April 13, 2012) – Many Covenanters routinely share links to social media articles and videos with one another that Covenant News Service believes may be of interest to others. Following is a sample of those submissions – their inclusion does not represent an endorsement of any views expressed.

Top Five Regrets of the Dying – Contemplating our death is a spiritual exercise practiced by some as a way of considering how we should live while we have the opportunity. None of the regrets has much to do with serving others and making the world a better place.

When Labels Don’t Fit: Hispanics and Identity – Interesting study from very well-respected group. As a person who writes news for the Covenant, this always is a challenge as I consider language. Be sure to check out the full study, which focuses on a number of topics. I would be interested in hearing from our Hispanic brothers and sisters regarding this study.

Helping Kids Wisely Explore Digital Frontier – From the website: This site is designed to offer information and tools that will help you lead the kids you know and love into living safely, wisely and to the glory of God on the emerging digital frontier.

Mother Faces Contempt Charges for Baptizing Children – This isn’t an anti-religion story. It does raise legal issues, but also shows how theological debates can play out in unlikely places. I’ve heard about fights over whether to raise a child within one religious tradition or another, but this is the first I’ve heard about issues related to baptism. How might pastors or friends of the parties deal with this?

Automobile Death Toll Higher on Tax Day – It’s something to think about this weekend. It also points to the importance of considering the impact of our stress on the lives of others regardless of the situation.
