Monday Deadline for Ministry Recommendations

CHICAGO, IL (February 29, 2012) – Monday is the deadline for submission of recommended names of potential candidates to serve as executive minister of the Department of the Ordered Ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). Names can be submitted by anyone – clergy or laity.

David Kersten, the current executive minister, has been nominated to serve as the new dean of North Park Theological Seminary.

Covenant bylaws state that members of the Board of the Ordered Ministry serve as the nominating committee, presenting their recommendation to the ECC Executive Board and the annual meeting of the Covenant Ministerium before final action by the Covenant Annual Meeting.

Plans call for the board to present a nominee during this year’s Annual Meeting June 21-24 in Irvine, California. Tom Ek, board chair from Galesburg, Illinois, also serves as chair of the search process.

The executive minister oversees the work of the department, which focuses on clergy credentialing, care and discipline, and vocational development. The executive minister also serves on the Council of Administrators and the Council of Superintendents.

Recommended names may be emailed to the search committee.

Covenant News Service will publish further information as it becomes available.
