Funeral Service Set for Donald B. Krause

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (February 14, 2012) – A funeral service for retired Evangelical Covenant Church minister Donald B. Krause, 86, will be conducted at 2 p.m. on February 25 at Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton, Minnesota. He died February 7.

Visitation will be observed from 5 to 8 p.m. on February 24 at Albin Chapel in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Interment will be at 11 a.m. February 27 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Krause was born August 12, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He married Betty Nokleby on June 11, 1949. She preceded him in death.

Krause earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota; graduated from North Park Junior College and North Park Theological Seminary, and earned a Master of Science degree in counseling from Southern Illinois University.

He served three churches in Minnesota – Maplewood Covenant Church, Alexandria Covenant Church, and Randall Covenant Church – as well as Bensonvale Covenant Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He served one year on the staff of Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis and then spent 40 years as a chaplain in medical facilities and nursing homes.

Survivors include his sons, Tom Krause and Todd Krause.

Memorials may be directed to the Donald B. Krause Scholarship fund at Northwestern College to benefit aspiring chaplaincy students.

  • Don and Betty were kind and compassionate people who lived out the Gosple of Jesus Christ. It was great getting to know them during the years I served at Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton Minnesota.

  • Over the years Don and Betty extended friendship and care to both my immediate and extended family.  Peace be to their memories.
