Ruth Hill Honored for Years of Service

ESTES PARK, CO (June 29, 2011) – Ruth Hill, former executive minister of the Department of Women Ministries, was recognized for her 12 years of service during Wednesday afternoon’s business session of the 126th Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

A citation of appreciation was read by President Gary Walter, who praised her work and acknowledged the many initiatives launched during her tenure. She was joined on stage by her husband, Brad. Watch video of the award presentation by clicking here.

Hill decided not to seek a fourth term as executive minister, a position she held since 1999. Hill also served as a missionary in Congo beginning in 1972.

Hills’ commitment to combatting injustices against women was a hallmark of her tenure.
She oversaw the development of Advocacy for Victims of Abuse; Educate the Girls, a program in collaboration with the Congo Covenant Church; and Break the Chains, an initiative designed to combat and end human trafficking.

She recently accepted a position as national awareness director for Shared Hope International, an anti-trafficking organization.
