Missouri Church Leads Communitywide Prayer Initiative

CARTHAGE, MO (August 11, 2010) – Iglesia Alfa y Omega Covenant Church recently spearheaded a communitywide prayer initiative that brought together seven churches, mostly Hispanic, to offer prayers for the community, the nation and the world.

This third annual event is unique in that it offers an opportunity for children to be engaged in intercessory prayer, reflected in the name of the event itself – Niños a Una Voz, or Children at One Voice Crusade.

The event was the focus of a news story in the local Carthage Press newspaper. “It’s a meeting to pray and on this occasion, we give the children the opportunity to cry out to the Lord – that’s why it’s so big,” the story quotes Francisco Bonilla as saying. Bonilla is pastor of La Iglesia Cristiana Hispanoamericana, or the Hispanic Christian Church.

Iglesia Alfa y Omega Covenant Church pastor Wilford Portillo, who organized the event, reflected on an awakening of spirituality in Carthage and how he sees this affecting the community in positive ways.
