News Briefs: Covenanters Making Headlines

CHICAGO, IL (June 9, 2010) – Preaching Magazine recently named The Company of the Preachers: A History of Biblical Preaching from the Old Testament to the Modern Era, written by retired Evangelical Covenant Church minister David Larsen, as one of the 25 most influential books on preaching in the last 25 years.

Larsen, a member of Northbrook Covenant Church in Northbrook, Illinois, served ECC congregations in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Rockford, Illinois; and San Francisco, California, and is the retired professor emeritus of preaching at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois.

The magazine ranked Larsen’s 900-page tome at number 17. The top book was Biblical Preaching by Haddon Robinson.

Journey to Mosaic Squared Applications Being Accepted

CONCORD, CA – The Pacific Southwest Conference is accepting applications for Journey to Mosaic Squared (J2M2), a three-week urban immersion experience for people 18-24 years old.

J2m2 will run July 10-31. Applications are due by July 1 – click here to access an application online. Cost is $50 for a non-refundable application fee and $450 for the remaining registration costs.

Each day follows a three-part rhythm. Mornings include biblical teaching, and the afternoons are spent in the community. Participants gather in the evening to debrief the day.
