Botts Draws Audience in During Sermon at Covenant Shores

MERCER ISLAND, WA (November 20, 2015) – Renowned calligrapher Timothy Botts did more than preach from Psalm 71 at the Covenant Shores Retirement Community this past weekend. He created a fresh work of art.

Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.”

“I purposely chose a passage to illustrate that the aging congregation could especially relate to,” said Botts, who was art director at Tyndale House Publishers for 40 years. “The psalmist’s words to those of us who are ‘old and gray’ are both a comfort and a challenge.”

Botts was a featured guest artist at the retirement community for the weekend.

At the Sunday evening vespers, he gave a lecture on art and faith. On Saturday he led an all-day calligraphy workshop that was open to the community.
