News Briefs: New President of Mexico Covenant Church Elected, NWC Finance Director Hired

PUEBLA, MEXICO (August 14, 2014)  — Marisol Martinez was elected president of the Covenant Church of the Central and South Districts of Mexico (IEMP) earlier this month at the denomination’s Annual Meeting, which was held July 30 to August 3.

A native of Mexico City, Marisol is a graduate of North Park Theological Seminary and spent two years as a short-term missionary in Spain. She is currently involved in working with abused women and the prevention of human trafficking.

Norris Selected as NWC Director of Finance

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (August 14, 2014) — Covenant minister Sandra (Sandy) Norris has been selected to fill the newly created position of director of finance for the Northwest Conference.

Norris already works with many existing conference churches books as well as new church plants, through her own bookkeeping business called Counting House. She will continue to service these churches, if they choose, as a staff person at the conference office, said Superintendent Mark Stromberg.
