Medical Teams International Needs Volunteers Now

PORTLAND, OR (May 18, 2012) – Medical Teams International, a key partner of Covenant World Relief in places such as Haiti, Libya, and the Horn of Africa, is in urgent need of medical volunteers for future trips this year.

In Cambodia, a general medical/dental team is needed to serve in rural areas to provide quality healthcare services to those who do not have access to them. Volunteers can expect to treat ailments such as malnutrition, diarrhea and waterborne diseases. Dental volunteers will also provide training to local care providers. The team is targeted to travel in October.

In Cameroon, a pathologist is needed to work alongside residents and other hospital staff at Mbingo Baptist Hospital near Bamenda. Volunteers will provide clinical services, hands-on training and classroom lectures for two to four weeks. Travel dates are flexible in August and September.

An obstetrician/gynecologist is needed to serve at Soddo Hospital in southern Ethiopia. The physician would serve for three weeks in July.

The Bangolo Hospital in Lebamba, Gabon, needs ophthalmologists to provide coverage for a leave of absence of a missionary physician. The length of service is flexible, from June 1 through September 30.
