North Park Seeking Candidates for Two Top Positions

CHICAGO, IL (August 25, 2010) – North Park University is accepting applications for two key positions – director of undergraduate recruitment and admission and director of external relations.

Undergraduate Recruitment and Admission

This position, which reports to the dean of enrollment, gives leadership to the team responsible for recruitment and admission of traditional undergraduate students. This individual is responsible for developing and implementing a recruitment plan, as well as managing all processes and procedures involved in recruitment, focusing on quality, efficiency and service.

Responsibilities include monitoring award of financial aid packages and communication with families, planning and implementing a schedule of church contacts, visits and college fairs, and working with the director of enrollment communication to ensure web and email communications to effectively support recruitment priorities and goals.

Duties also include working with the dean of enrollment to facilitate involvement and support of faculty, staff and other departments in student recruitment.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferable); excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills; the ability to work independently; the ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends; and the ability to travel as assigned.

Five years of successful work as an admission professional is required, as is a demonstrated ability to manage people and systems reflecting excellent team-oriented interpersonal, oral and written skills.

External Relations

This position, which reports to the vice president for enrollment and marketing, is responsible for marketing, public information, publications, and coordinating institutional advertising.

This individual also assists with events and projects in support of strategic initiatives and provides public relations counsel to the president and other senior administrators.

Responsibilities include consulting on marketing of the institution through advertising, media relations, web design, events, and publications to a variety of audiences; initiating marketing and communications strategies; overseeing editorial content and providing creative, design, and print services to meet institutional standards of excellence.

This individual also coordinates press releases, submission of articles and news pieces to media sources; manages media coverage for strategic campus events; establishes contacts with electronic and print media and government and community organizations; oversees the Office of External Relations staff and systems; and serves as a member on the university emergency management team.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field and experience managing public relations and publications; thorough knowledge and expertise in media relations, advertising, event planning, and writing and design; excellent grammar and strong editing and proofreading skills; strong writing skills; an orientation to detail and accuracy; effective interpersonal skills; and computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, among other qualifications.
