Covenant News Service invited a group of photographers from across the denomination to submit photos that will be displayed in a special gallery each week throughout Advent. The photographs are related to a specific biblical text. This week’s text is Matthew 1:18-25.

About the Photographers

Martie Peterson is a member of Sojourner Covenant Church in Evanston, Illinois. She is married to Curt Peterson, the executive minister of the Department of World Mission.

James Tolbert, Jr. is the Servant Leader of South Bay Community Church’s photography ministry. A former wedding and event photographer, he now specializes in street and documentary photography with an emphasis on social justice issues. His work can be found on flickr.

Andrew Larsen is an ordained Covenant minister working with the Mosaics Project and considers photography a “serious hobby.” His photos of the Templo de la Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Spain were published in a 2009 issue of National Geographic Traveler. Advent photos were taken in Morocco.

Kim Crawford is the associate director of Mobilization and Connection for the Department of World Mission.
