CHICAGO, IL (June 6, 2014) — Many Covenanters routinely share links to social media articles and videos with one another that Covenant News Service believes may be of interest to others. Each Friday we post five of them. Following is a sample of those submissions—their inclusion does not represent an endorsement of any views expressed.
Coach Reports Error, Costs His Team Title
One person who left a comment beneath the story wrote: “Derek Herber gets the District Championship in Class and Role Modeling.” Another shared, “My son has him for history and I can say, the whole school and community are proud and supportive of what Mr. Herber did.” That says a lot about the school and the community, too.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (Psalm 19:1-4, NIV).

Busted Halo posted this wonderful video that does a great job of explaining this day in the church calendar that gets far less attention than it should. It’s the birth of the church, for goodness sake! It is the power of God within us—thought apparently not the website. The logo at the bottom of the home page says, “Busted Halo powered by the Paulists.”
Duck Dynasty Bible to Be Released
In case you’ve missed the countdown, the sixth season of Duck Dynasty begins June 11. Better yet, Thomas Nelson has announced this new release coming in October, which will include “30 life-changing testimonials” and reading plans from the patriarch and his oldest son. And if you’re looking for accompanying devotional material, there’s always this.
Jailed Migrants Used as Cheap Labor
From the article: “As the federal government cracks down on immigrants in the country illegally and forbids businesses to hire them, it is relying on tens of thousands of those immigrants each year to provide essential labor — usually for $1 a day or less — at the detention centers where they are held when caught by the authorities.”
“Last year, at least 60,000 immigrants worked in the federal government’s nationwide patchwork of detention centers — more than worked for any other single employer in the country….The cheap labor, 13 cents an hour, saves the government and the private companies $40 million or more a year by allowing them to avoid paying outside contractors the $7.25 federal minimum wage. Some immigrants held at county jails work for free, or are paid with sodas or candy bars, while also providing services like meal preparation for other government institutions.”
Is this evidence that immigrants who are here illegally really do take jobs away from American citizens?
