GUILFORD, CT (October 28, 2016) — A graveside service former Covenant pastor Dwight M. Carlson, 83, was held September 10, 2016. He died September 2.
He was born October 2, 1932, in Moose Lake, Minnesota, and grew up attending the Covenant church there. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, graduated from North Park Seminary, and earned a master’s degree from Oberlin Graduate School of Theology. He also attended Pittsburgh-Xenia Theological Seminary, and earned a DMin degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School.
Dwight married Carolinda Norman, whom he met at North Park, on June 21, 1958.
He served churches in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Thomaston, Connecticut, before going into business. He founded Shuttercraft in Madison, Connecticut, which provided shutters worldwide.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Colleen Murdoch, Brenda Stermer, and Mary Piterak; and three grandchildren.
