BETHEL, MN (January 22, 2016) — Listeners to a new series of podcasts can help shape the content of a book on Pietism being written by Covenanters Chris Gehrz and Mark Pattie.
Gehrz is professor of history at Bethel University, and his book The Pietist Vision of Christian Higher Education was released in 2015. Pattie is pastor of Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton, Minnesota. The book, Hope for Better Times: Pietism and the Future of Christianity, will be published by InterVarsity.
The pair is producing 12 episodes as part of The Pietist Schoolman podcast in which they “think aloud” about possible ideas for each of the planned chapters. They are asking listeners for their feedback to questions raised during the podcasts.
The Covenant already has been mentioned several times in the first three podcasts. In the episode released last week, Gehrz noted, there were mentions of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Bethel University, Renovaré USA, and Pope Francis.
On Gehrz’s accompanying blog post, he asks readers, “So if Pietism is an ethos or spirit, where can you see it today in Christianity?”
To listen to the podcast, visit iTunes and begin with episode 13.
The Companion published an online interview with Gehrz about his most recent book in September 2015.
