CHICAGO, IL (November 25, 2015) — L. Grace Nelson, 90, widow of Covenant minister and professor F. Burton Nelson, died November 21.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, at North Park Covenant Church.
Grace was born October 19, 1925, in Hayti, South Dakota. She and Burton married in Lake Norden, South Dakota, in June 1948. He died in 2004.
Grace was a licensed psychologist and a spiritual director. She was a guest lecturer at the C. John Weborg Center for Spiritual Direction. A member of North Park Covenant Church, she was active in the Stephen Ministry program.
She is survived by six children: Rebecca, Ingrid, Emily, Sonja, Martha, and Tim, as well as grandchildren.
Grace and Burton were two of God’s choicest gifts to North Park and the Covenant. They leave many grateful friends behind but are now once again reunited on the other side of the Jordan. While there is sadness mingled with gratitude here, there is great rejoicing in heaven! Peace be to their memory.
Burton and Grace were a wonderful couple and great good friends. Their mutual passions, humor, good will and commitments have been inspiring. Goodbye, Grace!
