SEATTLE, WA (April 10, 2015) — Covenant Shores Retirement Community has partnered with the Nordic Heritage Museum to sponsor an exhibit of artwork by Warner Sallman.
The exhibit begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at the museum with a reception and lecture by leading Sallman scholar Jack Lundbom. The exhibit will run through April 21.
The exhibit is in honor of the seventy-fifth anniversary of his painting “Head of Christ.” Sallman’s most popular and iconic image has been reproduced over one billion times.
Sallman originally painted the work to be a cover for the Covenant Companion. The magazine will publish a story about the painting as well as its social significance later this year.
