CHICAGO, IL (March 3, 2015) — North Park Theological Seminary will host a daylong workshop, “Reading the Bible in Pastoral Relationship,” to explore how ministers and health professionals can integrate Scripture when working pastorally with people who have mental health issues.

The workshop will be held on March 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on campus. Designed for pastors, chaplains, and other professionals, the experience will be more than just talking about the Bible but rather will include reading the text together and interacting with its lessons and message.

David Hawkinson, a Covenant minister, will guide the sessions. He currently works as a pastoral counselor, psychotherapist, and Bible teacher. He is co-founder of both City Gates, a community of interfaith text study and dialogue, and Wild Chris, which integrates storytelling, music, poetry, and ritual with the reading of biblical texts. He is a founding and contributing editor of Pietisten.

The Good Shepherd Initiative of the Covenant Ministerium is helping to fund the symposium. The morning session will be live-streamed at no cost to participants who are unable to attend in person. Viewers offsite do not need to register. The session also will be archived on covchurch.tv.
