Being Mortal

PBS’s Frontline is one of the best shows on TV, and it does a spectacular job as it “explores the intersection of life, death, medicine and what matters in the end.” The website includes not only the chance to watch the episode online but also posts on topics such as “Facing Mortality: How to Talk to Your Doctor,” “Prolonging Life or Prolonging Death? Two Doctors on Caring for the Critically Sick,” and “Love and Cancer at 27.”

When Your Religion Makes You Too Uncool to Work at Abercrombie

From the article: “On Wednesday, the Supreme Court heard arguments about discrimination against job applicants who wear headscarves. But the case reveals something deeper about who’s considered attractive in America.” It’s another case in which the legal issues aren’t as clear as they might initially seem and the social implications are greater than one might think.

Sesame Street Parodies House of Cards

You’ve got to hand it to the creative geniuses at Sesame Street who can entertain adults as easily as they can kids. This short video parodies the popular Netflix show, complete with clever plot twists, and offers a math lesson too. Sesame Street has posted many of their parodies online, where you can watch bits such as “A’s Anatomy” and “30 Rocks.”

Congregations Seek Green Certification for Environmental Work

An interfaith organization is encouraging faith communities to pursue its two-year certification program in order “to have their environmental leadership recognized.” It involves a lot more than recycling and turning down the thermostat. Numerous resources are available for congregations interested in connecting religious beliefs with care for creation.
