BIXBY, OK (June 11, 2014) — A groundbreaking ceremony was held June 5 for Covenant Place of Tulsa, a Covenant Retirement Community.
The community will feature apartment buildings with one- and two- bedroom units. Residents will be able to choose from different levels of service. It will be a duplicate of Covenant Place of Lenexa, in Kansas.
Currently under construction are 45 residential independent living apartments and 34 assisted living apartments. A second phase of construction, which is being planned, will add a healthcare component to the community.
The community will be 100 percent rental for every level of service.
In addition to housing, Covenant Place will also offer onsite amenities such as a fitness facility, library, theater, and bistro-coffee bar.
The first phase of the community is slated for completion in the summer of 2015.
“Our core is to provide compassion and care to seniors, and we are excited to bring that to the Tulsa area with the creation of this new community,” said David Erickson, a representative of Covenant Retirement Communities.
Based in Skokie, Illinois, Covenant Retirement Communities is a ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The group currently operates senior living communities in eight other states and is one of the largest nonprofit retirement housing organizations in the country.
The site is located across the street from LifeChurch.tv, an affiliate of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
As it did for Covenant Place of Lenexa, Covenant Retirement Communities hired Scenic Development, of Overland Park, Kansas, to build Covenant Place of Tulsa. The principals of Scenic Development are members of Evangelical Covenant Churches in the Kansas City area.
