SACRAMENTO, CA (April 29, 2014) — Delegates to the Pacific Southwest Conference Annual Meeting elected Paul Wilson to be the new superintendent on Saturday.
Wilson will officially start May 1 as acting superintendent. Following the Covenant Annual Meeting in June, he will assume the title of superintendent.
Wayne Carlson, who has served as acting superintendent since last October, will serve as associate superintendent beginning May 1.
Wilson brings a breadth of innovative leadership experience to the position. He has served as pastor of First Covenant Church in Oakland since 2002. Since arriving in Oakland he also helped develop New Day for Children, a residential ministry that restores American minors who are victims of commercial sexual exploitation.
Wilson led the Evangelical Covenant Church of Alaska as its field director and developed the launch of Alaska Christian College. He also served as a youth worker for Iglesio Del Pacto Evangelico Douglas Park in Chicago and as pastor of Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake, Washington.
