Five for Friday: Links Covenanters Are Discussing

By Stan Friedman

CHICAGO, IL (November 22, 2013)—Many Covenanters routinely share links to social media articles and videos with one another that Covenant News Service believes may be of interest to others. Each Friday, we post five of them. Following is a sample of those submissions—their inclusion does not represent an endorsement of any views expressed.

1. Fox News’ Liberal Highly Reluctant Jesus Follower

Kirsten Powers, one of many liberal columnists for the Daily Beast, and pretty much a lone liberal voice for Fox News, didn’t think she wanted to be a Christian or could be, given her political alignments and views on social issues. Turns out she was wrong. Powers writes for Christianity Today about her journey to faith.

2. Post-Liberal and Emergent Christians

You can’t be post-liberal and emergent if you can’t laugh at yourself. It’s kind of a rule.

3. Artists Want to Bring Back Print Version of CCM Magazine

Musicians are trying to raise money through Kickstarter to bring back the print version of contemporary Christian music’s version of People magazine, CCM. If they are successful, what might that mean for other print publications?

4. Vatican Unveils Restored Catacomb with Frescoes Showing ‘Female Priests’

Or did they? People look at same frescoes and come to different conclusions based on their preconceptions.

5. The Tragedy of the Dependency Culture

This article expresses ideas that are increasingly being accepted by people working in relief and development around the world—which is why so many of them are advocating that Christians take seriously the messages of books such as When Helping Hurts.  Be sure to check out the links in the story.
