CHICAGO, IL (April 23, 2013) – John Teter has accepted a call to be church planting team leader for the Evangelical Covenant Church beginning August 1.
Teter also will continue to serve as senior pastor of Fountain of Life Covenant Church in Long Beach, California, which he and his wife, Becky, planted in 2007. He will step away from his position as evangelism team leader, which he has held since 2011.
“John has done a superb job as team leader for evangelism, providing fresh vision and passion in that area as well as some very helpful resources,” said Dick Lucco, executive director of ministry development. “After a careful and prayerful process of discernment, we have a clear sense that God is calling John to lead our church planting movement.”
A Bible expositor and author, Teter has written two books, Get the Word Out and Jesus & the Hip Hop Prophets, co-authored with Alex Gee.

Church Planting in the ECC has been an amazing blessing to us in InterVarsity. It is fun to think on you being a blessing to planting in the ECC, John! May the Lord empower you as you serve the Kingdom in two critical roles.
Thanks, Jim. I am so excited for the new role and the opportunity.
Hope all is well with IVCF. Love the updates I receive when I pray with Doug. Keep up the great work in the Lord.

Congratulations, John and ECC! What a great appointment. I’m excited both for John and Becky as well as for the Covenant movement as a whole.
Thanks for the kind words and affirmation, Joe. We are thrilled with this new development and can’t wait to see all God does. And let’s meet up and talk about Asian Access and any ways we can be a blessing to one another.
And Benny, it’s all good in this hood!
In the Inner city we rejoice by saying: Baebe’Baaaaaaabeeeeeee!
we love our pastors!
