NWC Sponsoring Two Leadership Conferences
FOREST LAKE, MN (October 8, 2012) – The Northwest Conference has two major leadership events scheduled in Minnesota in October and November.
The conference will host a one-day workshop called Converge at Redeemer Covenant Church in Brooklyn Park. It will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. October 27.
This workshop is open to all, but strongly recommended to church leaders. Topics to be covered include local church governance, communications, finances, dealing with ministry setbacks, and working with volunteers.
The cost for the event is $17 per person with a maximum total cost per church of $99. Lunch is included with each registration. The registration deadline for Converge is October 23.

The Children and Family Commission is sponsoring “Imagine: A Day for Those Serving Children and Families.” The event is designed to connect people who work with kids, share concepts, and provide a place to exchange ideas and ask questions.
Imagine will be held at from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. November 10 at Crossroads Covenant Church in Forest Lake.
The speaker for the day will be Tiger McLuen, president of Youth Leadership, a local organization dedicated to educating, equipping, and encouraging leaders in youth and family ministry. McLuen developed and has led the organization for 20 years.
The event is free and open to anyone who works with youth. Register as a church group by November 2 by email or calling (612) 721-4893.
Hope Church Sponsors AVA Advocates Training Session
STRATHMORE, AB (October 8, 2012) – Hope Community Covenant Church will host an Advocacy for Victims of Abuse training from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
AVA regional coordinator Karen Bayley will facilitate the training for people seeking to become official ministry advocates. Registration is $25 and includes lunch. Register online.
Previous participants are asked to bring binders of information previously distributed. Binders will be available for first-time attenders.

New Book Explores Religious Connections of It’s a Wonderful Life
MERCER ISLAND, WA (October 8, 2012) – Evangelical Covenant Church minister and author Greg Asimakoupoulos has published Finding God in It’s a Wonderful Life. Asimakoupoulos says that although the movie was not written as a religious piece, “we can see God at work in every scene.”
