North Park to Host Justice Summit and Chicago Reload

CHICAGO, IL (February 9, 2012) – North Park University will host Justice Summit and Chicago Reload on March 23-24. The event combines Chicago Reload, an annual event for urban youth workers, with a new Justice Summit.

Participants attending the summit will learn how to engage in ministries of compassion, mercy and justice; confront policies through advocacy and community organizing, and partner with programs and projects of community-based organizations, all from a Christian perspective.

Cornell West from Princeton University, Jim Wallis from Sojourners, and Harvey Carey, pastor of Citadel of Faith Covenant Church in Detroit, are a few of the featured speakers. Workshops also will be available to attendees.

Chefs Cook-off to Support Local Outreach Effort

McPHERSON, KS (February 9, 2012) – Countryside Covenant Church is among several faith communities co-sponsoring the second annual Battle of the Chefs soup cook-off on Saturday, February 18, at the McPherson Community Building. The event will take place from 11 a.m. until. 2 p.m.

Admission is a free-will offering in support of the Omega Project, a local program designed to help individuals caught in destructive lifestyles. The event will feature soups and desserts with visitors joining a panel of judges in casting votes for favorite entries.
