CWR Partner Named One of 10 Top Charities

PORTLAND, OR (December 20, 2012) – The United States’ premiere charity evaluator has named Covenant World Relief’s partner Medical Teams International (MTI) as one of its “10 Top-Notch Charities.”

Charity Navigator, which honored Medical Teams (MTI), evaluates more than 5,000 charities and “works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health and accountability and transparency of America’s largest charities,” according to its website.

According to the Kiplinger website, the nonprofit is “the first and best stop for would-be donors.”

Covenant World Relief has worked with the organization in countries around the world, including Haiti and Libya. Medical Teams uses full-time as well as volunteer medical personnel to serve people who lack access to effective healthcare in the midst of disaster, conflict, and poverty. The Paul Carlson Partnership also has worked with Medical Teams in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Grants from the Covenant were crucial to MTI’s ability to open and operate Cholera clinics as well as provide other ongoing services in Haiti. Multiple teams of volunteers that included Covenant medical professionals also have traveled to Haiti with MTI following the earthquake that devastated the country. Covenant World Relief works in partnership with other relief and development agencies. By working with partners who already have personnel in disaster and impoverished areas, it is able to keep its own costs low and multiply the effectiveness of the funds it provides.

  • This needs to be publicized throughout our Covenant churches. What a great testimony to the Lord and our missionaries and workers. Help spread the word. Each giver has a part in this.
