‘Justification’ Theme of Lund Lectures March 2

CHICAGO, IL (February 16, 2011) – The Nils W. Lund Lectures originally slated to be presented by Michael Gorman last September will be given March 2 at North Park Theological Seminary.

Gorman, who is dean of St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland, will deliver two lectures related to “Re-Imagining Justification.” The first will focus on “Justification as Resurrection From the Dead,” and the second will address “Justification and Justice.”

The first lecture will be presented at 9 a.m. and the second will begin at 9:45 a.m.

Gorman received his master’s and doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary and was the 2005 recipient of The Fortress Press Award for Innovative Teaching in Graduate Schools and Seminaries.

Among Gorman’s many publications are Cruciformity: Paul’s Narrative Spirituality of the Cross, and Elements of Biblical Exegesis: A Basic Guide for Students and Ministers.

The lectures are free and open to the public. The Lund Memorial Scholarship funds the lectures in memory of the former dean and biblical scholar who served at the seminary from 1922–1954.

  • Does anyone know if these will be recorded and made available?
    Thx

Editor’s note: Following is the response to this reader’s question from the seminary librarian: “The Seminary Lectureships, including Lund, are taped. They are not available for purchase. The agreement the lecturers sign gives us permission to tape and to circulate copies from the library. They may not all be catalogued. If there is one you are interested in and it does not show up in the NPU Library online catalogue, contact me as it can be circulated even though not fully catalogued.
