New Name for Children’s Home and Family Services

PRINCETON, IL (December 17, 2010) – Covenant Children’s Home & Family Services has been renamed Covenant Children’s Ministries.

The new name is in keeping with a refined mission of helping children in need and an expanded vision for the future of the ministry, says Harold Spooner, president of Covenant Initiatives for Care.

The home was closed in 1999, but the ministry has partnered with organizations that now use the19-acre campus, including the County Bureau Health and Wellness Clinic and Freedom House, a ministry to abused women and children.

“The focus of Covenant Children’s Ministries is to stay true to the legacy of the Covenant Children’s Home,” Spooner says. “Moving forward, we want to be a catalyst and partner with churches to help children.”

Protocols are being established that will allow the ministry to consider grants to congregations, Spooner says.

John Weborg will continue to serve as campus chaplain, providing pastoral care to clients and staff and conducting special worship services.
