CHICAGO, IL (November 26, 2010) – Covenant News Service, which is part of the Department of Communication of the Evangelical Covenant church, invited a group of photographers from across the denomination to submit photos that will be displayed in a special gallery each week throughout Advent.
The photographs are related to specific biblical texts. The upcoming week’s text is Isaiah 2:1-5.
Advent is derived from the Latin word “adventus,” which means “coming.” Christians throughout the world observe Advent as a reminder of the Hebrews’ expectation of the Messiah and looking forward to the return of Christ.
“We hope visitors will enjoy the photographs, but just as importantly, we hope the photos will inspire viewers to consider the rich meaning of the season,” says news editor Stan Friedman, who initiated the project.
